Sometimes you meet people and their outgoing, friendly, and kind demeanor just blow you away. That’s how it was when I met Bonnie Scott at an event here in Houston last Fall. Originally I had started asking about her business cards, as we both share a love for the blush pink and grey combo (her logo/ my wedding theme). We then discussed our new business ventures, as she recently launched B+C Events due to her passion and creativity for event planning. So I immediately asked where do you shop for all your clients?! And while Bonnie couldn’t disclose all her secrets, I at least got the one that matters most (to me, anyway) and that is none other than Hobby Lobby.
You may know Hobby Lobby as the place you pick up holiday supplies, frames, fabric, etc., but it’s actually the largest privately owned arts and crafts retailer in the US. Bonnie and I both shop there for different things, but love it just the same. She is on the hunt, as most planners are, for the perfect piece of décor that will compliment a clients theme and budget. While I am typically purchasing kraft paper, hangtags, and anything distressed.
The reason I am sharing all of this will you is out of pure excitement and support for a fellow Houstonian. Bonnie and I share many similarities (obviously), but working with various people and having an impact on their lives is a huge priority for us. I do it through consulting and writing, she does it through her organization skills and creativity.
I don’t know about you, but when I was planning my wedding and/or shower- I was buying things off Etsy almost daily. However, if I had hired an event planner in the beginning, my wallet (and sanity) probably would have seen a huge benefit. Bonnie has done corporate events, showers, weddings, and is up for anything you need assistance with. She also just told me that there is a “Day Of Coordinator” service her company provides- which will give you peace of mind and help you stay present on your special day.
So to recap- I may or may not be a tad bit jealous that Bonnie gets to go shopping for clients. But what I want you to take away from this post is her down to earth personality, affordability, and the dedication she brings to the table. If you have been reading my blog since the beginning, you will understand why I had to get Hobby Lobby in there- because it made me light up when I met her. It’s the little things in life that bond us- and if blush pink/ grey, shopping, passion, and a whole lot of drive is what Bonnie and I have in common- I will take it!
Below are a few images from B+C Events. Please take a second to look through Bonnie’s work. It’s simple, rustic, and elegant.
